This capital city of the Himachal Pradesh is situated on a hill of the height more than 200 meters. A must visit travel destination for those who love to walk as it is a place which is made to so. The famous walking areas there are the Ridge, The Mall and The Scandal Point which are totally non-vehicle areas. While walking one tends to enjoy the beauty of Chain Mountains bordering this town. The Mall is just full of the rows of cafes and clothing stores. These stores are generally full of imported goods rather than the local ones. But to the walk down to the stairs from there is a Middle Bazaar. It’s full of the local products such as the handbags, socks and sweaters etc which are generally very cheap.
While in the area of the ridge a towering church with its yellow walls can be spotted. This church is said to be the second oldest church in whole of the India. The Ridge area also consists of few cafes and bars, a library and a few park benches. On these benches you can see the beautiful views of the sunrise and the sunset. The scenery which has been appreciated the most from the time of this town’s existence is the series of the terraced mountains with a peak of Himalayas which are always snow-capped. The green pastures surrounding this hill station just add to the beauty of this place. One should prepare themselves for the cold weathers before travelling Shimla.
